Spindle Law is a new kind of legal research and writing system. Created by lawyers, Spindle is based on an understanding of the inherent structure of the law, how lawyers work, and how the newest technology can enable lawyers to research intuitively and write as they go. We developed Spindle after years of frustration with existing legal research tools, aware that other lawyers complained of similar frustrations: Even the best constructed search on existing services returns a large number of documents that must be viewed but turn out to be useless to the research project. Reviewing countless false positives is costly, time consuming, and boring.
Spindle’s organizational method enables lawyers to move fluidly from idea to research to result to document creation, guiding them quickly to the legal information they need and helping them write their legal documents as they research. It supports the creation of reliable content by designated experts and other Spindle users, activating a dynamic online legal community and opening a new kind of discussion about the law.
