If one party uses reputation or opinion evidence to impeach a witness, an opposing party may use, respectively, either reputation evidence or opinion evidence about truthfulness to rehabilitate the witness.

Fed. R. Evid. 609(a)(1) ("(a) General rule. For the purpose of attacking the character for truthfulness of a witness, (1) evidence that a witness other than an accused has been....If a conviction is offered to impeach a witness and the conviction is not for a crime that involves dishonesty or false statement, the conviction of the witness may be used to impeach the witness if the crime for which the witness was convicted is punishable by death or imprisonment for more than a year, if the crime the witness committed is probative of the truthfulness of the witness, and if the opponent fails to show that the risk of prejudice or other harm mentioned in Federal Rule of Evidence 403 outweighs the probative value of the conviction; but if the witness to be impeached is a criminal defendant, the prosecution bears the burden of showing that the probative value of the conviction outweighs the risk of prejudice to the defendant.

United States v. Williams, 264 F.3d 561, 575 (5th Cir. 2001) (upholding trial court's admission of testimony about accused's financial condition where, "beyond showing the mere fact that [accused] is poor," it was relevant to establish his motive).Another act, wrong, or crime is admissible to show a motive for some alleged conduct on a particular occasion.

United States v. LeShore, 543 F.3d 935, 941-942 (7th Cir. 2008) (upholding trial court's admission of the bait money list as a business record because a bank employee testified that "her personal knowledge....The hearsay exception for "business records" created by Federal Rule of Evidence 803(6) or a comparable State rule applies only (i) the record is based on the personal knowledge of an entrant with a business duty to record the event or other such matter or (ii) if the record of the event is based on the personal knowledge of a person who had a business duty to transmit the information about the event or other matter to the person or persons who made the record and had a business duty to do so. A person has a "business duty" if the person has a duty to an organization by reason of law, contract, employment relationship, or other such matter to record or report an event, condition, opinion, or other matter to which the business records exception to the hearsay rule may apply.
