Some fire reconstruction evidence is insufficiently scientific and insufficiently reliable to pass muster under the requirements of Federal Rule of Evidence 702 or comparable State rules for the admissibility of scientific evidence.

United States v. Hardwell, 80 F.3d 1471, 1492 (10th Cir. 1996) (upholding trial court's admission of documents showing that defendants and co-defendants sent and received cash by wire transfer because defendant admitted....Handwriting or any other matter requiring authentication may be authenticated by having an expert witness compare the disputed handwriting or other matter with an authenticated specimen or exemplar and testifying that the author or maker of the disputed handwriting or other matter and the specimen or exemplar is the same person.

Bucci v. Essex Insurance Co., 393 F.3d 285, 298-299 (1st Cir. 2005) (upholding trial court's admission of plaintiff's medical records because "some statements in the medical records were clearly made by [plaintiff]....Federal Rule of Evidence 803(4) or a comparable State rule creates a hearsay exception for a statement made for the purpose of medical diagnosis or treatment.

United States v. Mayberry, 540 F.3d 506, 515-516 (6th Cir. 2008) (upholding trial court's admission of police informant's prior sworn statements made during his grand jury testimony as prior inconsistent statements because....A prior inconsistent statement of a witness is admissible, not only to impeach the witness, but also as substantive evidence -- to prove the truth of the matter previously asserted by the witness -- only if the prior consistent statement was made in another proceeding.
