Attacks on the credibility of witnesses and attempts to repair credibility after impeachment

Torres-Villalobos, 417 F.3d 978, 983-984 (8th Cir. 2007) (upholding trial court's admission of a warrant of deportation which did not violate defendant's rights under the Confrontation Clause because "warrants of....The right of confrontation guaranteed by the Confrontation Clause of the Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution puts no constraints on the admissibility of nontestimonial hearsay statements; the federal constitutional right of confrontation does not apply to such statements.

United States v. Walter, 434 F.3d 30, 33-34 (1st Cir. 2006) (upholding trial court's admission of cooperating witness's taped statements because "the statements by Brown that were admitted had a nonhearsay purpose --....The Sixth Amendment Confrontation Clause places no limits on the admission at trial of nonhearsay statements made prior to or outside of trial.

Lillard, 354 F.3d 850, 854 (9th Cir. 2003) (upholding trial court's admission into evidence of accused's theft of cocaine because it was inextricably intertwined with the conspiracy crime as it established the elements of identity and knowledge ).Other crimes, wrongs, or acts are admissible and do not violate the prohibition against the use of character to show conduct if such acts are admissible to show the context of an event at issue at trial or to tell the full story or an intelligible story of a series of events at issue at trial.
