The trial court may use Federal Rule of Evidence 403 to exclude relevant evidence if the court finds that the probative value of the evidence is substantially outweighed by considerations of undue delay, waste of time, or waste of resources.

Southern Flying J, Inc., 266 F.3d 792, 800-801 (8th Cir. 2001) (holding, in employee's civil action for constructive discharge, that the trial court properly admitted evidence of her sexual behavior at the workplace because it was not unfairly prejudicial to plaintiff ).Under some rape shield laws other sexual conduct or sexual disposition of alleged victim is admissible in a civil proceeding for sexual misconduct if the probative value of the other conduct or of the victim's sexual disposition substantially outweighs the danger of harm to the alleged victim and the risk of unfair prejudice to a party.

United States v. Holt, 170 F.3d 698, 701 (7th Cir. 1999) (upholding trial court's ruling which permitted the prosecutor's questions to character witnesess about their familiarity with accused's reputation because they testified regarding his reputation as law-abiding).Although a character witness who testifies to the reputation of another person or gives an opinion of the character of another person cannot testify to specific instances of that person's conduct to bolster the character witness's testimony, an opposing party may question the character witness about specific instances of the person's conduct to show that the character witness' testimony about the character of the person was not well-founded.
