The similarity between the crime or conviction for which the defendant is on trial and the crime that is used to impeach the defendant's credibility as a witness increases the risk of undue prejudice and is a factor that should weigh against admissibility in the trial court's balancing of the probative value of the crime or conviction against the risk of prejudice.
